Andrea Anania joined the Board Office staff in March 2000. Previously, she was with the Iowa Department of Management. Prior to that, she served as Office Manager for the Iowa Seed Capital Corporation (1991-1998), a private, state-funded venture capital fund, and as Office Manager for the Iowa Savings and Loan Division (1987-1991), the regulator of state-chartered savings and loan associations. Andrea received her B.A. degree in Business Administration from Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jeneane Beck joined the Board Office staff in December of 2011, having covered the Iowa Legislature for 16 years as a reporter. She began at the Statehouse for WHO radio in 1996 and then joined KUNI in 1999 which later merged into Iowa Public Radio. She was also a guest reporter on the Iowa Public Television program Iowa Press. Jeneane has been assigned to the University of Northern Iowa as a State Relations Officer and legislative contact for the Board of Regents. She has a B.A. from Iowa State University in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Brad Berg joined the Board of Regents staff in October 2005. Since being employed by the State of Iowa in 1990, he was previously a Division Administrator and a Fiscal and Policy Analyst for the Iowa Department of Administrative Services-State Accounting Enterprise and a Revenue Examiner for the Iowa Department of Revenue. Brad has a B.B.A. in Finance from Iowa State University.

Marcia Brunson joined the Board of Regents staff in September 1984. She came to the Board Office from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville, Iowa where she was a personnel management specialist. Marcia has a B.A. degree from Iowa State University.

Tim Cook joined the Board of Regents staff in July of 2007, having previously served as Manager of Employee & Labor Relations and Workers’ Compensation for Iowa State University. Prior to that, Tim served as a Labor Relations Specialist and General Counsel for the Iowa Department of Personnel/Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise. He also served as a Civil Rights Specialist and Executive Officer for the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. Tim received his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Kansas.

Laura Dickson joined the Board of Regents staff in October 2006. Prior to joining the Regents, she worked for Employee & Family Resources as a Lead for the Support Staff. Prior to this Laura has worked as a Human Resources Assistant for Mediacom and Jasper County Human Resources and also as a Site Manager/Assistant Director for the Jasper County Elderly Nutrition program. Laura has an A.A. degree from William Penn University and is currently pursuing her B.A. in Political Science/Public Administration from Grandview University.

Thomas Evans, Jr. joined the Board of Regents staff in March 2004, having previously served as the Director of Human Resources for Polk County. Prior to that he had been a Labor Relations Manager for Polk County and was also an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Iowa. Tom has a J.D. from Drake University and B.A. in Political Science/History from the University of New Hampshire.

Jean Friedrich joined the Board of Regents staff in October 1991. She was previously employed by General Electric Capital Corporation as a Contract Specialist and at Security Pacific Business Finance as a Documentation Analyst in San Diego, CA. Prior to that time she had worked several years for the City of Ames. Jean received her B.B.A. in Management from Iowa State University.

Diana Gonzalez joined the Board of Regents staff in September 1998. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (MBA), the University of North Texas (Ph.D. and M.Ed.), and Texas Woman's University (BA). After a number of years as a faculty member in the mathematics department of a community college in Texas, she served for more than 20 years as Vice President for Planning and Analysis at a technical college in Wisconsin. Most recently, Dr. Gonzalez served as Vice President for Instruction at a community college in Texas. In her administrative capacity, she served as a consultant-evaluator on a number of accreditation visits for the North Central Association/Higher Learning Commission and oversaw the preparation of several institutional and programmatic accreditation reports. She has been consulted by numerous colleges and agencies regarding the development of comprehensive models for strategic planning. She has also served as a consultant in the areas of student outcomes assessment, institutional effectiveness, and distance learning. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Delta Kappa academic honorary societies.

Sheila Doyle Koppin joined the Board of Regents staff in February 1986. She has held several positions in the Business and Finance unit, primarily in the area of capital construction and facilities In 2006, she began to also undertake media and communication responsibilities for the Board of Regents, and in 2009, she was named Communications Director. Sheila received a B.G.S. degree from the University of Iowa.

Ann McCarthy joined the Board office staff in November 2010 and served two years as the State Relations Officer assigned to Iowa State University. Ann currently serves as a policy and information officer in the areas of communications, public affairs, and economic development. Ann served seven years as a senior research analyst with the Iowa House Republican caucus staff. During that time Ann specialized in education and local government legislation and budgeting. Prior to working in the Iowa House, Ann served for eight years as the legislative liaison for the Iowa Department of Education and five years as an analyst in the Iowa Senate. Ann earned a J.D. degree from Valparaiso University and a B.A. degree from Iowa State University.

Joe Murphy first joined the Board of Regents staff in November 2006 having previously served on state legislative campaigns. In 2008, Joe was assigned to the University of Northern Iowa as a State Relations Officer and was responsible for state legislative outreach and governmental relations. After spending 14 months in the private sector, Joe returned to the Board Office in November 2012 and is assigned to Iowa State University as a State Relations Officer and currently serves as a primary public affairs and legislative contact for the Board of Regents, State of Iowa. Joe graduated in May 2006 from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in economics and is currently pursuing his graduate studies at Drake University.

Joan Racki joined the Board of Regents staff in July 1993. She was previously Facilities Planner for the Idaho Board of Education and served as a Capital and Operating Budget Analyst for the Illinois Board of Higher Education. She is active in the Society for College and University Planning and received the Society’s 2008 Distinguished Service Award. She is serving a three year term on the Board of Directors as president-elect for 2009-2010. Joan has also served as a review panel member for the National Science Foundation. She has an A.B. from Scripps College, an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Denver, and took numerous courses in business at the University of Idaho.

Keith Saunders joined the Board Office staff in September 2004, having served eight years at the University of Northern Iowa in a state governmental relations position. After joining the Board Office, he was assigned to the University of Northern Iowa as a State Relations Officer and legislative contact for the Board of Regents. In 2008, Keith was assigned to the University of Iowa as a State Relations Officer and currently serves as a primary public affairs and legislative contact for the Board of Regents, State of Iowa. Keith also serves as an Associate Counsel to the Board of Regents. Prior to working for the University of Northern Iowa, Keith earned a J.D. degree from the University of Iowa and a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Northern Iowa.

Patrice Sayre joined the Board of Regents staff in August 2007 as Chief Business Officer. Prior to joining the Board Office, Patrice was the Finance Director for the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority for eighteen years. She has also worked in a number of not-for-profit and governmental entities, including Drake University, City of Des Moines, and the Family Planning Council of Iowa. Patrice received her CPA certificate in 1979 and her Certificate in Internal Audit in 1982. She earned her bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and a Masters in Accounting from Drake University.

Dianne Smith joined the Board of Regents staff in December 1995. She came to the Board Office from the Legal Aid Society of Polk County where she was the Office Manager for six years. Prior to that, she was an employee of the federal government for many years. Dianne holds a B.B.A. in Management Information Systems from Texas A & M University - Commerce.

Todd Stewart joined the Board of Regents staff in August 2005 after serving as Associate Controller and Director of Accounting at the University of Iowa for seven years. Prior to that, he worked as an administrator in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Iowa and as Audit Manager with the State of Iowa Auditor’s Office for sixteen years. Todd earned his B.S. in accounting from Iowa State University and M.B.A. from the University of Iowa. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Ilene Tuttle joined the Board of Regents staff in 1997. Prior to joining the Board Office staff, Ilene served as Administrative Assistant to the Directors, Board and Community Relations and Facilities Management for the Des Moines Public Schools; the Internal Revenue Service as Administrative Assistant to the Chief, Resources Management (Personnel, Fiscal, Training and Facility Management branches); Chief, Taxpayer Service; as well as Accounting Technician in the Controller’s office, and Secretary to the President of Vegas Corporation -- nine McDonald’s restaurants and 13 Camelot Cleaners in the Des Moines area.
