Dr. Bob Donley
Dr. Bob Donley was appointed Executive Director of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa in May 2008. Prior to his appointment, he held the position of Chief of Staff and Operations for the Board of Governors and Chancellor Mark B. Rosenberg for the State University System of Florida, the governing Board for the 12 public universities in the state of Florida.
Previously, Dr. Donley served in a variety of key administrative positions with Florida International University (FIU), including Chief of Staff to the President, Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Human Resources, Chief of Staff to the Executive Vice President for Business, Finance, and Governmental Relations, and Director of Public Affairs for the Executive Vice President and Provost for Academic Affairs. Prior to joining FIU, Donley worked in Washington, D.C. where he served as the National Executive Director of the Samaritans, a national nonprofit suicide-prevention organization. During his public service in his native state of Rhode Island, he served as the Deputy Secretary of State and Chief of Staff for the Department of State. During that time, he was elected as a nonpartisan delegate to the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention.
Dr. Donley serves as Chair-Elect of the national organization of Chief Executive Officers of public university systems. Donley has been a member of the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) since his appointment in 2008, and served on the Executive Committee, and as Co-Chair of the Federal Relations Committee. He is also a member of the National Association of System Heads (NASH).
Donley holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a Master's Degree in Education from Saint Joseph's College in Maine, and Bachelor Degrees in Political Science and History from the University of Rhode Island.
