Bob Donley was appointed Executive Director in May 2008. He came to the Board of Regents from the State University System of Florida, Office of the Chancellor where he held the position of Chief of Staff and Operations for the Board of Governors, the governing Board for the 11 public universities in the state of Florida system.
Prior to that, Donley served in a variety of key administrative positions with Florida International University (FIU) - Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Human Resources, Chief of Staff to the Executive Vice President for Business, Finance and Governmental Relations, Director of Public Affairs for the Executive Vice President and Provost for Academic Affairs, and Chief of Staff to the President. Previous to joining FIU he worked in Washington, D.C. where he served as the National Executive Director of the Samaritans, a national nonprofit suicide-prevention organization. During his public service in his home state of Rhode Island, Donley served as a constitutional officer as Deputy Secretary of State and Chief of Staff for the Department of State, among other positions, and was elected as a nonpartisan delegate to the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention.
Donley is currently enrolled as a Doctoral student at Northeastern University in Massachusetts where he is pursuing a Doctor of Education degree. Donley holds a master's degree in Education from Saint Joseph's College in Maine, and a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Rhode Island.
